What we collect

When you donate we collect your name, email address, postal country and the amount and frequency of your gift. Card details are handled entirely by our payment processors and never touch our servers. If you donate anonymously, your name is stored only for receipting and is never published.

Why we use it

• To process your donation and issue a tax receipt.
• To manage recurring gifts and let you pause or cancel them.
• To send impact updates, if you have opted in.
• To meet charity accounting, audit and anti-fraud obligations.

Who we share it with

We share the minimum necessary data with our payment processors, email delivery provider and independent auditor. We never sell, rent or trade personal data, and we do not share donor lists with other charities.

How long we keep it

Donation records are kept for seven years to satisfy charity accounting rules. Marketing preferences are kept until you withdraw consent. Volunteer applications that do not proceed are deleted after twelve months.

Your rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, and you can object to marketing at any time. Write to hello@hopeforataxia.org and we will respond within 30 days.

Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies to keep the site working and privacy-respecting analytics to understand which pages help people. We do not use advertising trackers.

Security

All traffic is encrypted over HTTPS. Access to donor records is restricted by role, logged, and reviewed quarterly. Suspected breaches are reported to affected people and regulators without undue delay.
