We are seeking passionate, dedicated, community-minded individuals to join our volunteer Board of Directors.

Our mission is to raise awareness of Ataxia globally through connecting, informing, and inspiring people through fundraising and awareness campaigns. Our actions are infused with our values of inclusion, transparency, collaboration, building relationships, and innovation.
We are not practitioners or experts, rather, individuals with lived experience who are open to sharing our stories. Some of the active work we do includes hosting virtual support groups on a regular basis for anyone in the Ataxia community, hosting awareness and fundraising campaigns partnering with Ataxia charities and national organizations, profiling individuals in the Ataxia community through our social media channels, producing merchandise for purchase, and sharing articles about Ataxians around the globe.
You Are: Driven and passionate about making a difference. Committed to the mission, vision, and values of HFA, you will provide strategic oversight and guidance to the team. Overall, you will have a direct influence on maximizing the impact of our organization.
Together we’ll be: A passionate non-profit team, part of ground-breaking leaders in the rare diseases community. Working collaboratively as part of a close-knit team, you will be part of the strategic process.
We are looking for individuals with previous Board and/or senior executive-level experience, along with backgrounds in finance, law, marketing, and fundraising.

You Are: Driven and passionate about making a difference. Create visual concepts, using computer software or by hand, to communicate ideas that inspire, inform, and captivate our audience. Develop the overall layout and design for any HFA-related applications. As a highly visible role, we rely heavily on you to oversee all creative decisions for us and ensure brand consistency. As part of a growing non-profit, you are an integral member of the team who will drive creative operations, you never stop learning and thrive on constant change. From inception to completion, you will implement innovative tools and strategies, learning quickly from our spirit of experimentation. Overall, you will have a direct influence on maximizing the impact of our organization.
Together we’ll be: A passionate non-profit team, part of ground-breaking leaders in the rare diseases community. Working collaboratively as part of a close-knit team, you will be part of the creative process from end to end: designing images, analyzing engagement, developing copy, and implementing new design strategies.
What You’ll Do:
• Designing merchandise and putting them up in store
• Work closely with the Marketing & Social Media Coordinator and Directors to ensure brand consistency
• Coming up with ideas (your own, surveying our audience and however else you want to do it)
• Designing merchandise using Photoshop/Canva/Envato Elements or a blend of all 3Putting items up in the store using Spreadshirt (you’ll have to upload them to the North American and Euro stores)
• Creating mock-ups using placeit.net
• Brand kit
• Consistent branding across all of our social media and any HFA-affiliated items
• Coming up with a look and feel that is consistent across our organization
• Building templates for our promotion (as needed)
• Other duties as required.What You’ll Need:
• Strong analytical skills
• Excellent eye for detail

• Willingness to learn
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Positive attitude, detail and customer-oriented with good multitasking ability
• Fluency in English
• Knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography, print, and the web (preferred)

What You’ll Do:
• Working directly with the Director, the incumbent creates marketing and social media campaigns and strategies, including budget planning, content ideation, and implementation schedules
• Ensures brand consistency in marketing and social media messages by engaging various volunteers in the organization
• Provides training and guidance to other volunteers on social media implementation best practices and strategies
• Collects customer data and analyses interactions and visits, plus uses this information to create comprehensive reports and improve future marketing strategies and campaigns
• Reports progress to Director
• Grows and expands company social media presence into new social media platforms, plus increases presence on existing platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram
• Researches and monitors activity of similar non-profits
• Creates and distributes engaging written or graphic content in the form of e-newsletters, web page and blog content, or social media messages
• Other duties as required.What You’ll Need:
• Experience with any of these social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube)
• Demonstrable social networking experience and social analytics tools knowledge
• Adequate knowledge of web design, web development, CRO and SEO
• Knowledge of online marketing and good understanding of major marketing channels
• Self-motivated
• Willingness to learn
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Positive attitude, detail and customer oriented with good multitasking ability

Working collaboratively as part of a close-knit team, you will be part of the strategic process from end to end: reaching out to third parties, building partnerships, analyzing impact, and implementing new outreach strategies.
What You’ll Do:I. Fundraising
• Creates a diversified annual fundraising plan that is in alignment with the organization’s goals
• Conducts activities related to establishing and managing annual awareness campaigns, event planning, and fundraising activities.
• Supports and grows special events and third-party opportunities.
• Develops and directs a program for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual donors, businesses, and foundations.
• Manages a timely and appropriate donor management and acknowledgement system.
• Maintains accurate records and provides regular reports on goals in the fundraising plan.II. Community Outreach and Education
• Creates an annual outreach plan.
• Develops plan to recruit, train, and utilize volunteers.
• Schedules outreach presentations in the community and communicates with staff regarding coverage and responsibilities.
• Develops a consistent presentation outline.
• Develops outreach materials.
• Maintains relationships with collaborative partners and cultivates new ones.
• Assists in the coordination of special events including holiday baskets/gifts; donor/partner/volunteer appreciation activities.III. Other Duties
• Assist the Executive Director with grant research and writing if needed.
• Other duties as required.
What You’ll Need:
• Experience with non-profit fundraising
• Excellent written and presentation communication skills
• High level attention to detail and organization skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects
• Outgoing and engaging personality with confidence to interact face to face with individual and corporate donors
• Experience preparing reports for funding sources
• Ability to prepare and present oral and written reports on development and outreach activities, to track and assess progress and address program deficiencies as they occur.
