Eltje Malzbender – Speaker Sessions
We’re grateful to announce that we’ve booked Eltje Malzbender to speak at an upcoming Global Ataxia Support Group meeting. Read below for more details!
Eltje Malzbender is a physiotherapist and paralympic cyclist with two paralympic gold medals in her name.
Eltje was born in Germany but has been living and working in New Zealand for the past 18 years. Next to her job, cycling is her biggest passion.
A few years ago, she got into a life-changing cycling accident. She was in a coma for four weeks and was left with severe brain damage. The brain injury caused many physical and mental problems, including ataxia.
Eltje has always been a determined and motivated woman and worked very hard every day to improve her condition. Against all expectations, she managed to regain her speech and even was able to ride a tricycle.
She is now a strong contender for the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic games, which have been postponed to 2021.
This is sure to be another great speaker session!
After we talk to Eltje Malzbender, we’ll continue on with our regular support meeting.
Here are the details of the meeting in case you’d like to join us.
