Georg Herdt – Speaker Sessions
We’re grateful to announce that we’ve booked Georg Herdt to speak at an upcoming Global Ataxia Support Group meeting. Read below for more details!
The Global Ataxia Support Group is proud to be in conversation with Dr. Georg Herdt who will be joining us from the UK and will share his experiences with life and sports.
Born into a family of rowers, Georg has been rowing for as long as he could remember and had built up strength and endurance over the years participating in competitive sports. He was also progressing his career in academia, but that all changed when he was diagnosed with Friedreich’s Ataxia (FA) in 2017. FA completely changed his outlook and he had to pivot his life and went back to basics. He began regular sport and exercise to give everything he had to fight FA. An avid advocate for spreading awareness, he ran the Oxford Half Marathon to raise much-needed funds for Ataxia UK and is a Brookes Sport Ambassador with the Oxford Brookes University Centre for Sport.
Georg shares with us how sport has improved his life and the importance of it in keeping the symptoms of FA at bay.
After we talk to Dr. Georg Herdt, we’ll continue on with our regular support meeting.
Here are the details of the meeting in case you’d like to join us.
